Rachel Kontorovich

Rachel personally coordinates and manages every detail of each trip, and is your point person for all questions about vacations before, during, and after each tour.

Originally from Hawaii, Rachel is an American who moved to Israel in 2013. A lifelong horse lover, she began riding at the age of eight, and competed in regional shows on the West Coast of the US. Rachel spent numerous years working at a Spanish Mustang ranch in Northern Idaho and it was there that she fell in love with long distance trail riding.

Rachel is a horseback riding instructor certified through Israel's Ministry of Sport, and is also a licensed therapeutic riding instructor. She is an avid and experienced trail and endurance rider, recently qualifying in a 40km race held by FEI standards. 

In addition to running IsraTrails, Rachel trains and works as a groom and an instructor at a showjumping stable near Tel Aviv, H&H Sport Stables, and also competes nationally in showjumping. 

She holds a Master's Degree from Northwestern University and worked as a media professional in NYC, Chicago, and Jerusalem. She has years of experience working in international equine tourism and is passionate about delivering the highest standards to her clients. 

Isaac Hanuka

Isaac is a certified horseback riding instructor and trainer, and also breeds Quarter Horses. His career as an accomplished horseman spans decades. He has competed nationally in Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Trail Class, and Horsemanship, and has four children, two of whom compete nationally and internationally.

 

In 1990, after his army service, he developed a horse ranch in Kibbutz Kalia adjacent to the Dead Sea, in the Judean Desert. Isaac has been leading trail riding trips for nearly thirty years and is a true professional in the industry.
